Betsy prepares to take her first step out of the limo into a fundraiser for her honor which raised $5000 for Pethelpers.

Charleston, SC – On Friday, July 24 Pet Helpers threw a fundraiser to help raise funds for one of their “Special Needs” dogs and for the care of their hundreds of animals who are currently looking for a “forever” home. The event, hosted by Necter Bar and Grill on James Island, raised more than $5,000.

Betsy is a two year old Staffordshire Terrier. She was found on the side of the road on Johns Island. Betsy’s right front paw was completely missing and there was only exposed bone left in its place. Betsy had to have her leg amputated immediately. She is now currently living in a foster home where her foster parent will be adopting her.

The event was held at the newly renovated Necter Bar and Grill located on James Island. More than 300 guests were able to enjoy delicious food that was prepared by Chef Kevin Bruntz of Necter. People of all ages enjoyed the sunny but cool evening, while listening to music on Necter’s dog friendly spacious patio. “I was truly blown away by everyone who came out to support Betsy and all our hundreds of animals at Pet Helpers,” stated Carol Linville, President/Founder of Pet Helpers. Pet Helpers would like to thank everyone who attended, donated and volunteered. They would also like to give a special thanks to our contributing purveyors: Necter Bar and Grille, LimeHouse Produce, Crosby Seafood, Sysco, US Foods, International Gourmet Foods, Prestige Poultry, Ashley Bakery, Henry J. Lee Distributors “People were so generous with donations, it’s very touching to see how a community can come together,” state Emily Laurie, Pet Helpers Director of Public Relations and Outreach. “The turnout for this event went beyond my expectations, thank you Lowcountry for all your help and support!
