NOTICE: updates on golf carts and parking decals
RESIDENTIAL PARKING DECALS
On July 1, 2011, residents can apply and pick up residential parking decals at Palmetto Parking’s new office located in City Hall at 21 Center Street. Until that date Palmetto Parking’s office will be at the same address as last year.
Any resident living in the City of Folly Beach and claiming the residential unit in which he/she resides as his/her full-time, primary residence may apply for a Folly Beach Parking Decal upon providing proof of residency. In no incident shall more than two (2) parking decals be issued for each residential unit.
Individuals who rent on a short term basis, defined as less than 30 continuous days, shall not qualify as a resident and therefore cannot obtain residential parking decals. Neither can owner(s) of short term rentals who claim residency in a place other than Folly Beach obtain residential parking decals.

GOLF CARTS
Beginning on July 1, 2011, owners will have to register their golf carts. The law will be implemented beginning July 15, 2011. To register, owners shall go to the Folly Beach Public Safety Department and complete a registration form. Permits will be assigned sequential numbers and shall be affixed to the golf carts on the right rear fender. The Permits shall be valid from January 1st to December 31st of each year. The cost of the permit is $5.00 for residents and $10.00 for non-residents. There will be no charge for Senior Citizens, 65 years of age or older who are permanent residents, living full-time at the premise or the premise is a second home. Proof of ownership and proof of insurance has to be presented on an annual basis prior to a permit being granted.
