Ginger of the Week: Celebrating an Endangered Breed

Tessa Hart is the Ginger of the Week.

Q: Who is your favorite Ginger?

A: Lindsay Lohan, pre-meth and pre-lesbianism.

Q: Why?

A: People say that we look alike and I love a girl who can handle her booze. She would always be the drunkest person and save me from that embarrassment.

Q: If you had to be a fruit, what would you be?

A: A mango, they’re delicious.

Q: How do you rate me on a scale from 1 to 10, where 10 is the highest? Explain.

A: 15 – you make a killer cocktail and pick out awesome prom dresses.

Q: What is your worst quality?

A: My bad temper.

Q: So it’s true what they say about Gingers and Red Heads having bad tempers?

A: It really is.

Q: How does it make you feel knowing that I hold your destiny in my hands?

A: Well … you really don’t because the apocalypse is scheduled for my birthday.

Q: If you could choose one super power, what would it be and why?

A: Telepathy, because I’m nosy and I think it would help me pick up on sarcasm. I’m usually not very good at picking up on sarcasm. Also, I would use my telepathic powers to see if people are judging me because of my flaming locks.

Q: Have you ever been so angry with someone that you wanted to mail him/her a pox of poo?

A: No, eww … I would never touch poo.

Q: If there was a movie written about your life, who would be cast to play you?

A: Liz Anderson; people think we’re the same person as it is.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: “Pomp a lei lei mama suck a lolly-pop.” It’s something we used to say to each other as kids in St. Croix when we arguing. It always makes me giggle when I hear it.

Painting the Folly Beach boat

Have you ever spent time to paint the Folly boat only to find out that 20 minutes later someone has painted over it with their own creation? It can certainly be disappointing to see your labor and creativity disappear more quickly than the tide. Fortunately, there is a way to keep all of that creativity from going to waste while making sure your personal connection to the Folly boat is immortalized.

If you have painted the boat or plan to paint the boat in the near future, you can submit a picture to be considered for publication in an upcoming photographic book, the focus of which will be the many faces of the Folly boat.

Recently, a large group of visitors to Folly Beach left a present for residents after the Fourth of July holiday: a huge amount of trash. It is inevitable that many people will visit the beach and that more trash will be created as a result. However, many people left their trash on the beach itself which included coolers, beer cans, boxes and bottles with little regard for what would happen when they left. Fortunately, many concerned volunteers cleaned up the mess. However, it has the City government wondering whether or not alcohol should be banned on the beach in order to combat similar situations.
