New Year Means a New Outlook
Happy New Year Folly Folks! In the spirit of always trying to grow (plants and personally), I took a look at last year to see what works and what doesn’t for me. Many people make New Year Resolutions, but I like the concept of New Year “Solutions” much better. In order to implement changes in our life we have to add daily practice to make them stick. After seeing our editor at the Post Office one day, I mentioned to him about trying to mix up my article a little bit instead of standard landscaping tips that you can find anywhere on the Internet. He agreed that “branching out” (yes, landscape pun intended,) might make things a little more fresh.
Personally I dread the thought of becoming “stuck in my ways” because that would translate into no longer learning. I like to believe that there is nobody on this Earth who knows everything. We are all just practitioners in reality. The best thing I love about Life is that it’s always so humbling when we realize just how little we know as human beings and individuals. This is great, it means the one thing we won’t die from is boredom!
One morning recently I did some rearranging of my bookshelf and realized I have many resources of information that I haven’t looked at in years. In this age of information, we have a multiverse of knowledge. There are unlimited websites with facts, opinions and discussions about whatever it is we’re seeking. It has been fun and refreshing to start from the beginning again and it is certainly making my craft better.
We can apply restarting from the basics to any aspect of our life, whether it’s a physical, mental, creative, professional or spiritual practice, etc. Give it a whirl and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out many of the small things we may have skipped over in our path to excellence that will give even a seasoned veteran or a master that little something fresh they needed.
Personally I’m looking forward to another incredible year in this wonderful community where artistic expression is still held in high regard.
