It was less than a decade ago
The wide beaches seen in this May 2010 photograph along the west end of Folly Beach, are reliant on our intervention to persist. In August 2011, high swells from Hurricane Irene washed completely over the county park at the island’s terminus, pulling asphalt, parking spaces, and road out into the ocean. Although it has since been renourished, Hurricanes Joaquin, Matthew and Irma each took their toll in the last three years. (Courtesy of Leslie R.
