Enjoy two nights of live music and sunset views this month from Folly Beach County Park’s Dunes House
from Staff Reports
Bring friends and family to Folly Beach County Park from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on July 20 and July 27 for an “Evening in The Park.”
The deck of the park’s Dunes House is a spectacular spot to watch the sun set over the Folly River, accompanied by live music from Jordan Igoe on Wednesday, July 20 and Michael Duff on Wednesday, July 27. The snack bar will sell food and beverages throughout the evening. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and beach towels or blankets to use while at the event.
Charleston County Parks will also run a kids’ program, “Beachcombing,” from 5:45 – 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 – 7 p.m. Kids ages seven and up are invited to join a park educator and naturalist to learn about various animals that call the beach home. The group may go on a short walk to look for shells, marine animals, and could even find shark teeth! This program has a limited capacity and spots are available on a first come, first served basis; attendees are encouraged to arrive early to register to ensure your spot in one of the sessions. Registration is on-site and free with attendance, and the program will meet at the Dunes House deck.
Furry friends are welcome to join in on the fun as well, but must remain on a leash at all times. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach after 6 p.m.
Concessions sold will include snacks, food items, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Outside alcohol is prohibited and an ID is required to purchase alcohol. Alcohol is not allowed on the beach. Admission to Evening in the Park is free with regular Folly Beach County Park admission fee, which is $15 per vehicle, or free for Gold Pass members.
The Dunes House, which opened in 2020, features outdoor showers, ADA accessible restrooms, changing facilities, covered picnic area, a snack bar, and a large viewing deck. The building was designed to take advantage of the park’s beautiful sunset and ocean views, and the large deck offers a place to admire these vistas. It also offers accessible parking and an ADA crossover to the beach.
Folly Beach County Park is located at 1110 West Ashley Avenue. For more information on Evening in the Park, call (843) 795-4386.
