I have been living in the Charleston area since 1977 and been a professional musician for over eleven years now. I have opened for American Aquarium, Johnny Mac and the Booty Ranch and Inside Straight to name a few. I play a variety of music ranging from Alt-Country and Blues to the Beatles and Flamenco music. I play my own rhythms and leads real time with a loop pedal, sing and use a harmonica brace. And… I LOVE MUSIC!! <3
Wire & Wood is a duo I have had (with Erin Johns) for about 12 years now. We recently got a write up in the Charleston City Paper:
Local acoustic duo Wire and Wood split their sets equally between breezy good-vibe songs, twangy classic rock renditions, and cleverly attractive and funky protest tunes. Singer/guitarists Dave Grunstra and Erin Johns (formerly of Bring Out Your Dead, Tung & Groov) each have a long history as professional musicians in the Lowcountry. In addition to other solo and band projects, they’ve been collaborating as Wire and Wood in Charleston for more than 11 years. As a male/female duo, their style and chemistry inevitably resembles some of the classic guy/girl acts from the folk/rock world, but with a nicely textured double-guitar foundation and earthy harmonies, there’s much more Buckingham and Nicks happening in Wire and Wood’s musical performance than Peaches and Herb or Captain and Tennille. Wire and Wood perform at the Mt. Pleasant Juanita Greenberg’s at 10 p.m. on Friday. They head to Johns Island on Sunday for a show from 4-7 p.m. at the Stono Breeze Waterfront Bar. Grunstra also performs every Monday evening when he hosts an open mic at the Crab Shack on Folly Beach.
